Our Story
Martin & Carmen have been asked many times...

Born in Alberta and raised between Germany and Victoria, B.C., Carmen has fond memories growing up on a family hobby farm.
She spent 20 years in Germany, where she became a kindergarten teacher, married Martin, raised two amazing boys, and embraced many adventures - thriving as a Mary Kay Sales Director and building homes alongside Martin. In 2003, the family settled in the Okanagan, embarking on an exciting new chapter together.
By 2014, after years in real estate, Carmen began to ponder the next season of life. Inspired by her childhood memories, a vision emerged - an idyllic B&B farmhouse set on a beautiful acreage where family, friends, and guests alike could gather, relax, and create memories of their own. In 2018, their dream-building journey began, and by 2022, Autumn Lane welcomed its first guests, bringing that vision to life.
Carmen’s passions extend beyond hosting - she is an avid interior decorator, loves gardening, serving in her home church, and delights in creating a space where beauty, hospitality, and community come together.

Born & raised in a small town in southern Germany, Martin became a master mason with a passion for European architecture and building.
For more than 40 years, he has worked in the construction industry, primarily as an independent contractor.
Together with Carmen, Martin oversaw the building phase of Autumn Lane, serving as the hands on expert in drafting, construction and finishing - helping turn it into the one-of-a-kind retreat that it is today.
When time allows, Martin loves to hike the many Okanagan trails, serve at his local church and read a good book.
Autumn Lane’s story is still unfolding, and with each new season, garden, and thoughtful addition, Martin and Carmen continue to shape it into a welcoming haven -
where moments turn into memories and every visit feels like coming home.
" It has been a long journey, many hours of work and many more to come. But we are all in... and look forward to this exciting new season of life.
Without family helping us along the way, we would not be where we are today and without God's grace, this adventure would not be! "
"So what's your story?"
